This is an 8 × 10 inch painting of the foamy Pacific Ocean waves rolling in and out of the North California coastline. Done in watercolour with a tiny brush, this painting shows off the blue shadows of foamy waves and the sparkles of sunlight on the rocks. All the whites of the foam and sparkles on the rocks are made by leaving the paper white, and the entire painting is done in watercolour only.
This watercolour paper allows easier lifting of paint from its surface, and my favourite parts of the paintings are the areas on the rocks where I have pulled back the paint and laid in some reds or blue shadows that really seem to glow.
This is a slightly larger piece that followed a mini painting done earlier in 2026.
